Edmund Rice Education Australia - Flexible Learning Centre Network

The learning choices available to a young person enrolled in the middle phase of learning (years 8 or 9) at one of the Flexible Learning Centres are based on curriculum that is common across all schools. They are founded on the Key Learning areas of The Arts, English, Health and Physical Education, Languages, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and Environment, Technology and Information Communication Technology(computing).

To clearly identify what should be taught and what is important for students to know and understand, the Queensland Studies Authority has developed what they term Essential Learnings. The Flexible Learning Centres use the Essential Learnings to tailor educational programs that are appropriate and important for the young people at our schools.

In addition to the standard learning choices offered we also encourage our young people to engage in, music, camps, outdoor activities, vocational education and work experience programs where appropriate.
